With speeds of up to 5 Gbit/s, the USB 3.0 is quickly becoming the new standard in data transmission technology for PCs and Laptops. Most current computers only have 10/100 Ethernet ports, while Macbooks (Air), Ultrabooks™, Subnotebooks etc. no longer come with any Ethernet ports. On account of the USB 2.0 standard, existing USB 2.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapters are limited to a maximum data transmission speed of 480 Mbit/s.
