The solder vapour extractor described here is used to suction off solder vapours to prevent people from breathing in the harmful solder vapours, by filtering the solder vapours out of the air. An easily replaceable carbon filter is used for filtering.
Soldering produces solder vapours which are classified as harmful to health. Since the introduction of lead-free solders with the associated higher soldering temperatures, the fluxing agents that cause these harmful and irritating vapours are particularly aggressive. Solder vapour extractors are strongly recommended by the trade associations as well as by the Institute for Occupational Safety of the BfA.
