The latest addition to the ''StromPi family'' opens up completely new applications for the Raspberry Pi and many other developer boards.
In addition to the already available voltage inputs, the new StromPi 3 can now be supplemented with an optional plug-in battery unit, which adds a rechargeable emergency power source to your Raspberry Pi with a LiFePO4 battery. Unforeseen power outages are now a thing of the past!
The optionally available battery unit is a special lithium iron phosphate battery which has several advantages compared to conventional lithium ion batteries (see accessory ''RPI STROMPI AKKU''):
• increased safety, because no chemical self-ignition is possible
• a much longer lifetime
• wider temperature application range
• more charging cycles
• the battery is automatically charged during operation on an external power source
The individual inputs can now be variably prioritized, allowing the StromPi 3 to be perfectly adapted to your project.
With a voltage range of 6 to 61 V and a current of up to 3 A, even larger projects can be supplied with enough power.
In addition, the StromPi 3 now has its own configurable and autonomously acting microsystem unit, which can be used for programmable start-stop behavior: Let your system start up and shut down at predefined times to perform measurements or to switch devices on or off.
The included RTC real-time clock can also be used for time synchronization of the Raspberry Pi during operation without internet access. In addition, the StromPi 3 has been extended to include control via the serial interface (battery charge status, voltage values of the inputs/outputs, control and configuration), which makes it an absolute all-rounder.
The Strompi 3 is also designed for professional (industrial) use and 24/7 capable. Via USB output also for almost all other single board computers besides Raspberry Pi like: Arduino, Red pitaya, Banana Pi etc.

This BatteryHat with LiFePO4 battery turns the Strompi V3 into a full-fledged UPS solution. The battery is available as a third power source, monitored and automatically recharged.
