More targeted protection of a power system is the main advantage of selective circuit breakers. However, there are other points as well:
The SLS breaker can be used as a centralized main breaker. From one point, it offers the possibility of reliably de-energizing even a very large downstream distribution network with numerous socket and lighting circuits. This increases safety, not least in extensive and/or unclear areas and buildings.
Although the SLS main switch ensures that the short-circuit current is reduced in the event of a short-circuit, it does not completely disconnect non-affected areas before its final response, thus ensuring their safe continued operation.
It serves as a backup for the other installed miniature circuit breakers and residual current devices or fuses.
It is lockable and sealable as standard. Hager SLS switches can also be provided with a reclosing lockout.
