The EDID emulator is plugged into the output of the graphics card and connected to the desired monitor. If the connection to the monitor is interrupted, this is not detected by the graphics card - it retains the selected settings (resolution, frequency). If the connection to the monitor is restored, you will have the right picture right away. This is particularly important when using KVM switches.
