Description

The Arduino MKR WAN 1310 board provides a convenient and cost-effective solution to add LoRa® connectivity to low-power projects. This open source board can connect to: the Arduino IoT Cloud, your own LoRa® network with the Arduino LoRa® PRO gateway, an existing LoRaWAN ™ infrastructure such as The Things Network or even other boards with direct connectivity mode.

Better and more efficient
The MKR WAN 1310 offers a number of improvements over its predecessor, the MKR WAN 1300 . The MKR WAN 1310 is still based on the Microchip® SAMD21 low power processor, the Murata CMWX1ZZABZ LoRa® module and the MKR family's signature crypto chip (ECC508), but includes a new charger, a 2 MByte SPI flash and improved control of the board's power consumption.

Improved Battery Performance
The latest changes have significantly improved the battery life of the MKR WAN 1310. With proper configuration, the power consumption is now only 104 µA! It is also possible to use the USB port to supply power (5 V) to the board. Run the board with or without batteries - the choice is yours.

On-board memory

Data logging and other OTA (Over The Air) functions are now possible since the integration of the integrated 2 MByte Flash. With this exciting new feature, you can transfer configuration files from the infrastructure to the card, create your own script commands, or simply store data locally to send whenever connectivity is best. The MKR WAN 1310's crypto chip provides additional security by storing credentials and certificates in the embedded secure element. These features make it the perfect IoT node and building block for large-scale, low-power IoT devices.

Arduino IoT Cloud
Use your MKR board in Arduino's IoT Cloud, an easy and fast way to ensure secure communication for all your connected things.

Build your own infrastructure

If you need to build your own dedicated LoRa® infrastructure, consider using the Arduino LoRa® PRO gateway. This will allow you to monitor all of your MKR WAN 1310 cards directly from the Arduino IoT Cloud.

Get Started
The Getting Started section contains all the information you need to configure your board, use the Arduino software (IDE), and tinker with coding and electronics.

Additional I2C Port

The MKR WAN 1310 has an additional port that is meant to be an extension of the I2C bus. It is a 5-pin connector SHR-05V-S-B (JST SH series) with a small form factor and a spacing of 1.0 mm.
