The Web Smart managed gigabit switch DGS-1210 supports many features normally found only in high-end switches. It guarantees a maximum degree of control, service and security but without the complexity of an enterprise switch. Due to the low administrative overhead, it is ideal for use in small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, it is silent thanks to a fanless design and so it's ideal for open office environments.
Comprehensive security functions in the networkThe DGS-1210 features extended security settings. Thus the D-Link SafeGuard Engine intervenes when individual network components overload the switch CPU with large amounts of data due to a viral attack. The Access Control List specifies which user may use which services and files and authenticates these users using the IEEE 802.1X standard. For added security, the DHCP Server Screening ensures, for example - the switch detects its IP address from the DHCP request of the client and the corresponding response of the server and the port automatically assigns this to the MAC address belonging to the port.
High functionality thanks to bandwidth control and QoSThe switch impresses with sophisticated QoS functions for the automatic prioritisation of digital data packets. For optimal voice quality for VoIP applications, the voice VLAN support ensures that the voice traffic is automatically moved to a VLAN with the highest priority. Bandwidth control also allows the network administrator to limit bandwidth for subordinate devices. In addition, the DGS-1210 is equipped with many layer2 features, including IGMP snooping, port mirroring and the LACP trunking protocol. Rapid spanning tree and loopback detection immediately recognise redundant loops and block the double connection automatically. The cable diagnostics allows network administrators to quickly identify and resolve the status and any malfunctions of the copper wires.
