Description

For her incense fragrance Zagorsk, Evelyne Boulanger was inspired by the Russian city of Sergiyev Possad, which was known as Sagorsk during the USSR era. Sergiyev Posad is home to one of the most important centers of the Russian Orthodox Church: the Holy Trinity Monastery, founded by monks in the 14th century, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The imposing monastery complex with its fortress-like character can be seen from afar and is the main tourist attraction in the otherwise rather industrial city on the outskirts of Moscow. There are plenty of monastic echoes in perfumer Evelyne Boulanger's fragrance: intense, smoky incense notes are reminiscent of dark monastery vaults. Coniferous notes and spicy pepper underline the cool dryness. As the fragrance progresses, Zagorsk develops a creamy-soft iris note, whose delicate sweetness is accentuated with peppery smoky notes. A very complex and tightly woven incense-conifer fragrance that captivates with its contemplative calm and meditative tranquillity and authentically conveys the contemplative atmosphere of a monastery.Top notes: woods, cypressHeart notes: incense, allspice, irisBase notes: pine, cedar wood
