With the mains-compensated overload protection, the TinySwitch 4 devices drastically reduce the maximum overload fluctuation over the entire input voltage range. This is particularly useful in applications such as PC standby and CV adapters for limiting the maximum output power during the overload fault condition.

The TinySwitch-4 also includes a 725V MOSFET that easily enables 80% de-rating in high reflected voltage and high bus voltage designs. The BP/M pin allows the MOSFET current limit to be adjusted up or down, allowing designers to optimize power output and efficiency in a variety of physical implementations. An on-time extension function extends the low-line regulation range so that the hold-up time can be maintained even at lower values of input capacitance.
