Product Description

Lanberg Switch 8X 1GB/S Gigabit Ethernet Desktop 12V

The Lanberg DSP2-1005 is a small unmanaged desktop switch equipped with 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The device is small and handy and works on a plug-and-play basis. The switch offers switching functions for 5 RJ-45 10/100/1000 Mbps ports as well as automatic connection negotiation and MDI-MDIX support.

  • 5 RJ-45 10/100/1000 Mbps ports with automatic connection negotiation
  • Plug-and-play - the device requires no additional configuration
  • Support for MDI/MDIX, MAC-learning and MAC-aging
  • Data flow control function: Backpressure for half-duplex and IEEE 802.3x for full-duplex
  • Topology: Star
  • Protocol: CSMA/CD
  • MAC address table support: 2K
  • Switching bandwidth: 10 GBit/s
  • Passive cooling for quiet switch operation
  • Holes for wall mounting

The special feature that distinguishes the DSP1 series from the DSP2 series is the use of a universal 12-volt power supply, which is used in many other surveillance, CCTV, alarm, security and IT devices. Thanks to this solution, the end user, ISP or installer is not forced to use the factory power supply, but is completely free to decide how to supply the switch with this voltage. The advantages of using 12 volts are

Using an adapter/splitter with a 12-volt socket, the DSP2 switch can be supplied with power via the customer's PoE system and deliver data at the same time. To do this, use another switch or a device that supports the passive PoE standard with 12-volt power transmission and connect one of its LAN ports to the adapter using an Ethernet cable. If such a connection is not available on the device, also use a PoE injector. Connect the RJ-45 output socket of the splitter to the DSP2 connection with a cable and connect the socket output to the power input of the switch (diameter 5.5 * 2.1 mm). This makes it possible to transmit data and power via the same Ethernet cable in order to make the solution cost-effective and uniform and also to use it in places that are difficult to access.

12-volt power is available in alarm systems and older CCTV solutions. In such cases, a collective power supply is used, eliminating the need for an additional power supply and allowing easy replacement of the main module in the event of a failure,

There are many manufacturers on the market that offer 12-volt buffer power supplies that have a cable with a jack plug. Such small devices supply power to small devices such as routers and switches. The 12 V used in the DSP2 series allows the connection of all types of buffer power supplies to continue operating the device after a power failure,

Increased operational stability and better power efficiency of the device by using a higher voltage.

The Lanberg Switch is ideal for home use thanks to its very small size and the use of passive cooling. The...
