Description

Special Features:

  • Solid and rigid components
  • Similar properties to ABS
  • Printed objects can only be bent to a minimum

The tough 2000 resin is a synthetic resin from the popular manufacturer Formlabs. The material is one of the technical resines and offers improved mechanical properties. Tough 2000 is a strong and rigid resin suitable for functional components or prototypes that are resilient and can only be deformed slightly. The material has similar properties to an ABS plastic (acrylonitrile-butadiene-stirene copolymer). The number 2000 in the article name corresponds to the tensile module of the resin.

The material is compatible with the mold lab form 3 and form 2. In the form 2, a resin tank LT is required in combination with this resin. Curing in a UV chamber, such as the form Cure, is necessary for post-processing. The material supports layer heights of 0.1mm and 0.05 mm.
Applications for tough 2000 resin form labs

Formlabs tough 2000 resin is suitable for components that have to withstand a certain load. It can be used, for example, for tools and brackets, but also for housing parts and covers.
Difference between Formlabs tough 1500 and tough 2000

Formlabs tough 1500 resembles a polypropylene plastic, whereas tough 2000 is more like an ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-stirene copolymer). Tough 1500 is easier to bend and can be bent repeatedly. Tough 2000 is much stiffer and firmer. It can also be bent minimally.
