The robust, industry-standard EX-1170HMVS is a USB 2.0 metal hub for up to ten end devices. The hub provides ten USB 2.0 downstream ports with 15-kV ESD over-voltage protection. The hub meets the special requirements of industrial applications.

Two internal jumpers for individual control of the operating mode (data and power):
- Jumper bus power:
- ENA = bus power operation possible
- DIS = operation only possible with power supply unit (self power)
- Jumper host control:
- ON = power supply independent of host PC
- HOST = power supply only when the host PC is powered on
