The Solder-Ex desoldering strand has been developed for the repair of soldered joints. It consists of a copper braid and is coated with a special halogen-free flux, which accelerates the absorption of solder.
The Stannol Solder-Ex desoldering strand is placed on the solder to be removed. At the end the strand is heated with a soldering iron until the solder melts. Due to the capillary effect, the solder is sucked into the strand. The stranded wire is then removed and the part filled with solder is cut off. A sudden heat shock, as occurs with vacuum suction systems, is avoided because the stranded wire is placed on the soldering point when cold.
