General description:
The TC1232 is a fully integrated processor monitor that provides three key features to protect processor safety: precise power on/off reset control, watchdog timer and external reset override. When switched on, the TC1232 keeps the processor in reset mode for at least 250 ms after VCC is within tolerance to ensure a stable system start. The functionality of the microprocessor is monitored by the built-in watchdog circuit. The microprocessor must provide a periodic lowgoing signal at the ST input. If the processor does not deliver this signal within the selected timeout period (150 ms, 600 ms or 1200 ms), an out-of-control processor will be displayed and the TC1232 will reset the processor. The TC1232 outputs are activated immediately when the PB input is shut down by an external pushbutton switch or other electronic signal. When the TC1232 is connected to a pushbutton switch, it provides contact debouncing. The TC1232 is housed in a space-saving 8-pin PDIP or SOIC package and requires no external components.
