Faster single channel USB to UART/FIFO interface IC FT 232 HL
Housing: LQFP-48
The versatile single channel USB-to-UART/FIFO interface IC can be configured on an EEPROM and thus used for different serial or parallel interfaces. Together with FTDI's proven USB-device drivers, developers can use this solution to integrate a high-speed USB connection in new and existing periphery designs. In addition to the support of asynchronous serial interfaces (UART) the FT232H also supports interfaces to many synchronous IOs such as SPI, I²C, JTAG and FPGA programming interfaces. This is done via the integrated multi-protocol synchronous serial engine (MPSSE), which provides data transfer rates up to 30 Mbit/s. Developers can also use MPSSE to implement their own synchronous serial bus protocols.
As an interface option the FT232 offers the FT1248 bus - a proprietary, synchronous half-duplex-serial/parallel interface, which communicates with external logic and data rates up to 30Mbytes/s. A special feature of the FT1248 bus is its balance between bandwidth and the number of physical data lines available (1, 2, 4 or 8), which connect the FT232H with the external logic. This provides developers with optimum flexibility.
